MANAGING A BUSINESS DURING THE PANDEMIC

Businesses hasn't been the same as it used to be. Businesses now need to be managed and developed in a different approach. Because businesses before the pandemic don't have any concerns on the customers health, as long it doesn't affect other customers. But now, because of the corona virus, there are a few concerns that sticks into many people's minds. Now we have procedures that we need to follow, people are being careful if they want to go outside. On a economic perspective, this is such a loss to us. Due to that change in the world, small businesses are even shutting down. Even businesses who've reached peak popularity are now shutting down.

However, there are a few businesses which started during this pandemic. Ms. Chrisnatalia is one of them. She has been preparing and developing her business from the ground up. And she is also experiencing the major impacts in the business department during this pandemic. When asked the positive outcome that she got starting a business in these times, she says, "I don't need staff to handle things for me, for all of it can be carried out by my family and myself. It also means that i can cut expenses for waging." Based on what she said starting a business in this pandemic is cheaper. It's easy to manage because there are not too many customers to handle at once. But there are also fairly obvious negative outcomes. She continued, "There are major impacts into financial profits that you're going to make. It has decreased compare to usual. It's equal to the expense lower than before." The pros and cons in this problem are insights into the financial impacts with the businesses. Yes it's easier to manage, but you're not going to create profit that you would expect at first. 

People's interest on doing activities has changed drastically as well. You can tell on people's behaviour nowadays. There's also a huge gap between communities that use masks and that don't use masks. Who follow procedures and who don't follow procedures. It also means the amount of people that go outside to do certain activities are less. Whichever side that you are on, it affects people like Ms. Chrisnatalia. So i asked her about these two sides of communities and she said, "In my opinion, customers nowadays are not interested into doing outdoor activities. For as to government's rules of social distancing. People are protecting themselves against the virus by avoiding crowded areas in public places. People are preferring to stay at home, as well as my customers." Even though some people are following the certain procedures that have been publicly announced by the government, there are also people that don't agree nor do they believe with the procedures. And so they often to rebel and break these rules. But these are the people who kept other businesses to stay and provide public entertainments that they enjoy. The more customers, the more profit that businesses get. Of course this breaks our sanitary measures, but financially this helps.

A few cities in Indonesia are currently rearranging the policies behind the rules that you need to follow to own a business. Such as Pekanbaru. Over the past few months Pekanbaru's corona virus percentage have been increasing. Due to the unstable policies that are implemented to the citizens. "My opinion regarding to government's policies during Covid 19 , has been good enough. The matter is on its execution which still is incomprehensible. I know the policies impact my business and all people's. The demands has decreased." according to Ms. Chrisnatalia. The rules aren't perfect, but good enough for people like Ms. Chrisnatalia to continue their business. Yes it needs some a little bit more tweaking on the wording, but it's still can be handled well. 

But the number one priority is health. By observing the economic changes in our cities, most of them are affected by the citizens health. "However, back to our number one priority, healthiness or wealthiness? For me, health is on the top." Ms. Christinatalia said. "How can you make money if you're sick ? My ideal way, run the business but don't make it kills you." she continued. Nothing will change in the business department unless people will consistently make decisions that can benefit the community.
